Sikhs around the world celebrated the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. Nanak spent the last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur, Pakistan where he preached the teachings of Sikhism to Sikhs. Kartarpur was built into a temple in 1925 to honor Guru Nanak and since then, it has become a holy ground for Sikhs to visit. More recently, Pakistan opened the border for Sikhs to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur to celebrate the anniversary.
