The last twelve months have been the most interesting for Trent Reznor’s project Nine Inch Nails and his die-hard fans. After last year’s Year Zero, Reznor finally divorced himself from his former label Universal, ending a very bitter, hateful history between him and the music industry.
When Jacqueline Newman was engaged, she was given her very first Chinese cookbook as a gift. Fifty-four years later, Newman has compiled the World’s largest English-language Chinese cookbook collection, continuing over 3,000 books.
I never had a fantastic relationship with geese. I even went out of my way to complain about their fecal waste in my first article about Stony Brook. One can only imagine my reaction when someone asked me to write my last article of the academic year about the geese offspring at Roth Pond: Nope, sorry buddy, nuh-uh, not me, no way are you making me do this.

When one thinks of a college football or basketball game, the commonly generated are packed stadiums, tail-gating parties, and enthusiasm sparked by the student population. This common perception of college athletics is absent here at Stony Brook University where fan attendance, school spirit is extremely low.
Dressed in traditional all black jerseys, the Stony Brook Women’s Rugby team trampled over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, shutting them out 15-0 to win the Big Apple Classic on Saturday, April 26. The tournament win closes off a successful spring season for the Black Widows of Stony Brook who managed to find their way competing in numerous semi-final matches throughout the season.
The Stony Brook Women’s Softball team home-ran their way to a 4-2 victory over Albany, also winning the series 2-1 on Sunday, April 27. What appeared a stalemate for the first four innings of the game soon turned to batting practice for juniors Kelsi Fanelli (Audubon, NJ) and Molly Kestranek
Following the women’s victory cued by the vocals of Frank Sinatra’s New York New York, the men’s team warmed up for their game against Hofstra. With over 5,000 in attendance, the final home game of the season for Stony Brook turned out to be an eventful one.
Senior Day marked the first time in the Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team’s history that the mighty Seawolves defeated Hofstra, leaving the Pride with nothing to be proud of. Six minutes into the first half, junior Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, NY) pierced the stale mate with a riveting shot leaving Hofstra breathless.
