Eric Kaler said that he’d been posturing for the title of university president for years. That got us thinking. Was Kaler ever a possibility for the job of Stony Brook president when the job opened up in 2009? Turns out, yes.
The University of Minnesota Board of Regents has unanimously elected Stony Brook University Provost Eric Kaler as its 16th president. Kaler has accepted the job, which will commence on July 1, 2011. More to come.
Fires plagued the West Campus of Stony Brook University in the 1990s but that has become a problem of the past. A Stony Brook Statesman article from February 27, 1992, “Fire!,” states that 100 students were relocated and two were injured after an electrical fire at Dreiser College.
