Aziz Ansari has quite a few fans at Stony Brook, judging by how fast he sold out the 1,050 seat Staller Center.
Tickets for his free Tuesday performance sold out in just two days. 400 seats were filled on Sunday, and the remaining 550 tickets disappeared lightning-fast today, the first day of the Spring semester.
“We got rid of them in about an hour and a half,” said Liz Frisenda, the box office manager in the Student Activities Center.
Students who hoped to get a guaranteed seat are now out of luck, but a standby list has been created for those die-hards who couldn’t score a ticket. A total of 950 ticketed seats were available for all students, with the rest of the seats to be filled by members of the campus press, university officials and other individuals.
If you found yourself in the SAC before the last ticket was collected at 12:30pm, you no doubt saw lines that snaked around the lobby, into the commuter lounge and downstairs to the basement, where it continued to grow throughout the morning.
Workers for Stony Brook Concerts, the USG entity responsible for Ansari’s appearance, helped with crowd control and directed students to the back of the line.
Ansari is set to take the stage at 7:00pm Tuesday night on the Staller Center main stage.
