Stony Brook has canceled classes for the rest of this week, and plans to resume them on Monday November 5th due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, according to the Stony Brook Office of Emergency Management.

The cancellations apply to Stony Brook, SB Southampton, and SB Manhattan and includes the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Technology & Management, School of Social Welfare, and the Dental School.

“Any students with clinical obligations should make every effort to attend clinical rotations and contact their clinical coordinators with any questions or concerns,” said the Office of Emergency Management on the SB website.

The University Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home will be open, and all employees who are deemed essential must report to work. Stony Brook University Hospital will resume a regular schedule for its operating rooms and ambulatory surgery center on Thursday.

All Research Foundation employees, including those who work at Tech Park or at any Stony Brook Medicine outpatient facility that is open, who are deemed essential are also expected to report for duty.

All employees and students are urged to continue to monitor their e-mail, the SB Advisory page or the Office of Emergency Management “Alert” line.
