The University Police Department disseminated a warning to all Stony Brook students regarding a string of car break-ins occurring in South P. They suspect that these crimes are connected to similar thefts on other nearby college campuses.
UPD detailed two specifically disturbing events from Thursday in which one car had its tires stolen while another was ransacked for its airbags and parts. Both incidents occurred in broad daylight.
Due to the size of the items being taken, police believe that the suspect or suspects are using a vehicle to hide or escape with the stolen property. The UPD is requesting that anyone with information on the case to call 631-632-3333.
