The Stony Brook Seawolves Baseball team received at least one vote in a poll that names the Top 40 college baseball teams in the country each preseason. The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division I Poll, which asked 40 college baseball writers to choose from over 300 teams from 10 conferences, named Stony Brook as one of the teams that received votes.
This announcement comes only days after right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano was named a third team preseason all-american by multiple publications. Tropeano dominated the America East conference, holding conference opponents to a .213 batting average with an ERA of 1.29.
The Seawolves, the defending champions of the America East, will attempt to win their third title in four years in the newly renovated Joe Nathan Stadium, which is named for the former MLB All-Star and Stony Brook Alumni and expected to be completed this spring.
