Fake News refers to a term recently coined by President Donald J. Trump in order to denigrate  news contrary to his policies. He branded media outlets as “Enemies of the people”. In a country that champions liberties such as freedom of the press. It is an unusual case for the United States to have a hostile policy towards the media. One of the most outrageous cases of Fake News circulated by Trump would be his views towards global climate change. Not only does he consider it to be false, but he made the claim the theory stems from the Chinese government in order to economically cripple the American economy. A clearly false statement given how the overwhelming majority of scientists have agreed global climate change exists and human activity is primarily responsible for it. Trump chose to spread the lie in order to appeal to his constituents – One of…

Nowadays, the “Bridge to Nowhere” is something of a myth, a story told to freshmen about how absurd the campus they call home is. When new students are in their first semester or so, they are told about how Stony Brook University built half of a bridge, going from the second floor of the Union and just stopping in midair near the library. No stairs down at the end or anything; just a sharp cutoff in midair. It turns out that the Bridge to Nowhere not only existed, but also did so up until fairly recently. It was completed eventually and had good reasons for its strange history. Construction on the bridge began in 1967 as a way to avoid traffic accidents. The road splitting the Union from the academic campus was open to traffic at the time, so students had to worry about being run over if…

Assassin’s Creed is a lot like real-estate: it’s all about location. They’re selling us the same game with a different venue. But are there enough differences here to make Syndicate worthwhile?    Players find themselves in London at the cusp of the Industrial Revolution, playing as Evie and Jacob Frye, twin assassins on a mission to find a piece of Eden and free the oppressed working class. Evie is the first assassin in a while to actually act like an assassin. She’s tough yet calculating, fights with a badass cane, which reminds me of Daredevil whenever brawls occur in the rain, and uses great stealth mechanics. Jacob serves as a good balance to his sister, a charismatic brawler with smooth combos that are reminiscent of one of my favorite assassins, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The characters themselves are a great improvement from Unity’s protagonist, Arno Dorian, because they can actually…

Imagine a world where the values and paranoia of the 1950’s did not end with the passage of time, but with a flash and a mushroom cloud. Imagine a world where the bombs devastated a technologically uplifted 50’s America. All that is left is ash and bombed out husks of a once great society. Imagine a world where this was not the end to human existence, but is only a new bloody chapter in human history where the rest of humanity lives amongst these broken walls and tries to build a new society. Throughout the series, the same tag words always end the opening cinematics: “War, War Never Changes.” For as little as we know about the upcoming Fallout 4, we have a great understanding about the world itself. It is a long, complicated setting spanning from coast to coast. Where those animals that aren’t feral are horribly mutated, like…
