After the sixth season finale of The Walking Dead, fans will have to endure a painful and pointless cliffhanger until the next season airs later this year. Given that the show follows Robert Kirkman’s comic book series storyline (for the most part), The Walking Dead comic book readers were eager to see how the show would present the notorious Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) character. The show’s viewers first hear of this evil character during the sixth mid-season premiere, when one of Negan’s henchmen threatens Daryl (Norman Reedus), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green): “Your property now belongs to Negan.” The henchmen looked dangerous and ruthless but were quickly obliterated by an RPG shell, courtesy of Daryl’s quick wit. However, Negan’s first depraved act of violence was fizzled by the showrunners. Both viewers and comic book readers were eager to witness Negan’s vile actions and how they would translate…

On Thursday, for Islam Awareness Week, the Stony Brook Muslim Student Association (MSA) invited Haroon Moghul to speak about Islamophobia in America. Even before he delved into the subject at hand, Moghul admitted that the only time he had ever been on television was when “Muslims have done something stupid or someone has said something crazy about Muslims.” Evening prayers were held at the LDS Center in Benedict College and shortly after, a member of the MSA’s Executive Board took to the stage to read a statement from Sister Sanaa Nadim, the MSA Chaplain. Nadim’s statement was critical of the recent terrorist attacks that took place in Brussels this past week. “They are attempting to destroy lives in the name of this beautiful faith,” Nadim said. “We, the American Muslims, are living under our great constitution, regardless of all the rhetoric.” Moghul, an academic at Columbia University and a Fellow…

The Student Union renovation will begin on Sept. 1, 2016 as Spector Group, an architecture company in charge of this project, will work on building its replacement, the Student Services Center. The Spector architects held a contractor meeting on March 9, 2016 at the Stony Brook Student Union Auditorium. Spector wanted to gather potential contractors for their project and give them a rundown of the details, including a tour of the Student Union. This is the only opportunity that contractors will get to see the site before actually bidding and constructing. The project will take “1,095 days or three years” to finish, Brian Franco, the lead architect from Spector group, said. One of Spector Group’s head architects, Joseph Randazzo, has worked with the State University of New York System before and said that the new Student Services Center “will be the best designed building on campus.” Brian Franco, another Spector…

“If you have to eat shit, best not to nibble.” This sets the tone for the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead. In the beginning, Rick Grimes’s (Andrew Lincoln) all-star team confronts Negan’s henchmen. For anyone that is well versed in The Walking Dead universe, the name Negan instantly raises alarm. This character has gained popularity this season, as the TV story catches up with the comic book plot. Comic-book readers are fully aware of Negan’s evil deeds, but in this episode, his henchmen are blown to bits by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). His new weapon of choice, an RPG, brings fire to the mid-season opener. It doesn’t take long for the viewers to be reminded of the post-apocalyptic setting as Rick’s group walks through a wall of the undead. The distinction between the original group and the Alexandrians is quite obvious: the Alexandrians ooze inexperience and uneasiness, while the…
