Each year in New York State, as many as 7,000 people die in hospitals as a result of medical negligence. Between 300 and 400 doctors are punished each year, and about 8,000 complaints are filed.
The freaks are taking over. With its “Geek Squad” technical support service, Best Buy advertises the hipness of being a nerd, while hipsters walk around wearing thick rimmed glasses to keep up with the latest fashion trends. The dreams of these nerds become reality on a steady basis.
There’s no crime in punk rock, but “Random Punk Kid” still wishes to remain anonymous. At least he lives up to his punk name by volunteering at one of the few remaining do it yourself (DIY) scenes left in New York. Coming to ABC No Rio, a “collective of collectives” in Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Saturdays, is the highlight of RPK’s week where he donates his time to keep the movement alive through six dollar shows that feature punk rock.

After hanging out with punks at an ABC No Rio Punk/Hardcore Matinee, I thought I’d hang out with hipsters at a McCarren Park Pool Party. The show in Williamsburg was free and the bill included The Ting Tings, Black Moth Super Rainbow and MGMT. I packed my pair of Wayfarers and hopped on the ‘L’ to Bedford Avenue.
