RE: Opinions About USG Elections- Some Real Talk About The United Students Party

    Response- DELUSIONAL

    Tahir Ahmad writes:

SBU-TV- “There may be some disagreements with some of the actions taken, such as the way that SBU-TV had been closed down, sentiments that I also share, but that too was done lawfully as ruled by the Judiciary”

    Response:

Done lawfully as ruled by the Judiciary?????

The “JUDICIARY”, Julian Cordero, who got paid 20 bucks to hear the case and is friends with most of the USG Executive Board. Did he get an order of Dim Sum along with that $20?

What about the “PRIOR NOTICE” that USG should have given to SBU-TV before USG shut them down? There was none and Chief Justice, Julian Cordero had the audacity to tell SBU-TV when they objected to Moiz Khan’s speaking rights at the hearing that “PRIOR NOTICE” should have been filed either before or during the hearing.

Moiz was even quoted (SB Independent) as saying “I don’t very much care for procedure if it gets in the way of doing the right thing.” The right thing according to who? Moiz!

He is a loose cannon and has caused more problems than he is worth. If USG wants the threats of more lawsuits and lots of drama, then vote for Moiz Khan Malik.

Remember when he was elected as USG Treasurer, but resigned citing “unforeseen personal reasons.”

In December Khan came clean and when asked:
    Why you resign?
2010-12-15 23:24:45 moiz I failed all of my classes due to this bullshit
2010-12-15 23:24:55 moiz my professors gave me Is
2010-12-15 23:24:58 moiz and i got to redo the work

So, if he is voted in as USG President and fails all of his classes, will he get to redo the work again?

This sounds like Moiz has some administrative pull on campus if he was allowed to redo the work.

If you can’t handle both your classes and the bullshit, then you don’t belong in USG!

Remember the controversy over the vote to increase the activity fee?

In a brief presented to the USG Supreme Court in December regarding the validity of the narrow margin of votes to increase the student activity fee; Moiz Khan and Michael Fricke (both wanted the increase) wrote that:

The Universities method of disbursing and allocating fees may be dubious and questionable; however, the Undergraduate Student Government’s methods on allocation and disbursement are in fact the most transparent. A student can simply log into the website of the Undergraduate Student Government, click budget, and they can know exactly where there money is going. The fact is the Undergraduate Student Government does a tremendous job (especially in relation) of providing information relating to the Student Activity Fee.

USG’s methods of disbursing and allocating fees ARE DUBIOUS and QUESTIONABLE.

Khan now claims that he is against any tuition and fee increases. How soon he forgets that he challenged the decision in the fall, and that he wanted to increase the student activity fee.

Didn’t USG just change its policy on New Club funding, because they were threatened with a lawsuit by the Young Americans for Freedom?

—-”The fact is the Undergraduate Student Government does a tremendous job (especially in relation) of providing information relating to the Student Activity Fee.”—

    Honesty and Integrity?

There have been modifications made to the operating budget which are not reflected on the budget for 2010-2011 on USG’s website. There is no confirmation to what new clubs have been approved for SSC funding or how much they are receiving. There is no line item showing that USG spent over $60,000 on renovations to the commuter commons in the SAC.

On April 5th, USG President, Matt Graham posted an announcement on the USG website that USG was sponsoring the 2011 SIGMA XI NORTHEASTERN RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM. The problem with this is that all attendees had to pre-register and registration cost $25.00. Pre-registration ended on February 4, 2011. What benefit or service was this to the undergraduate students, when you advertise an event that they can not attend?

    Q. How much did this cost USG?

    A. $5000 went to the Sigma Xi Conference, a national science conference for undergraduate research .

The Free events put on by SAB/SPA took away seating from students who paid the undergraduate student activity fee. Graduate students, faculty, staff and sometimes, the general public were allowed free admittance, leaving many undergrads disappointed.

Offering FREE admission to ALL SBU students when there are over 16,000 that pay the undergraduate student activity fee and over 8,000 Graduate students who don’t contribute to the event at all, leaves many undergrads out of luck. With limited seating, some students were even selling their FREE tickets.

USG is not the “Public Purse” and it needs to take better control and care of the students who pay the undergraduate student activity fee. Remember, all students pay an activity fee, but Graduate Students pay less and they control their own activity fee revenue and Undergrads pay a lot more and therefore their 3.1 M budget is looked at as the “public purse.”

Then you have the USG Spring 2011 elections, which are officially scheduled to start today, 4/11/11 and end at noon on 4/15/11. According to the posting by David Mazza, VP of Communications a “Valid Candidate List” was to be posted on the USG Website on April 4th. That never happened. The list of candidates was only put on the website this morning. Better late, than never and guess who isn’t running for VP of Communications again, David Mazza!

Another concern that needs to be pointed out is that USG is promoting FRAUD on its own website under “How to Start a New Club”

    It States:

Are you an Undergraduate student, and how much longer will you be here as an undergrad?

USG only deals with Undergraduate students, and only undergrads can be voting members of the clubs we fund. If you are not a student, you will have to find undergrads to start the club for you. You should also consider how much longer you will be here. If you are graduating in the Spring, you won’t be able to get a USG line budget before you leave.

“IF YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT”- then you are not paying the student activity fee
“YOU WILL HAVE TO FIND UNDERGRADS TO START YOUR CLUB FOR YOU”- here is the key to the “public purse”

    http://sbusg.org/get-involved/how-to-start-a-new-club/

If you want a President with more balls than brains, then you know who to elect.

Khan may defend his approach to college politics, but there are consequences when you fail to follow policy and procedure. He also seems to think that his way is a better way, and with that, you should tell him to hit the highway!

So, Moiz has a new party and has moved on from the “Students First” party. Now he is part of the “Student Polity” party. We all know that Polity met its demise and was decertified in 2002. Maybe he should belong to the old “SUCCESS” party, because he has SUCCESSFULLY pissed off a lot of people.
