The New York Times Profiles Stony Brook’s Mental Health Needs

In discussing the disturbing growth in mental health needs on college campuses nationwide, The New York Times profiled Stony Brook University.

Reporter Trip Gabriel chose Stony Brook as an example of a campus struggling to keep up with the increasing demands that over-stressed students are placing on school run counseling services that have recently faced budget cuts.

Many of the trends described in the article are cause for concern. Fortunately, Gabriel portrays Stony Brook’s Student Health Center as being pro-active in the community and providing exceptional service to the thousands of students who come to them for help.
